How to Create your own DIY Wreath with florist Amelia Florence

November 8, 2021

We love the ease of buying a ready made wreath to hang in your home, but there is something so special about making your own. Our hanging wire rings and new stoneware braided wreath make the perfect base for making a DIY everlasting wreath using real, dried or faux foliage. We asked local florist, Amelia Florence to create a festive wreath using our stoneware braided wreath. If you’re feeling inspired to make your own, here’s a step-by-step breakdown of how Amelia created this beautiful design.

1. Gather different types of dried and/or fresh foliage to use to create your wreath. If you’re using fresh foliage, ensure that you are using leaves, flowers and grasses that will dry well.

2. Group together 4-6 stems at about 6cm long to make mini bunches, making sure to cut the stems straight at the base. Depending on what look you are going for, these bunches can contain the same or slightly different foliage.

3. Lay these onto the wreath base one by one making sure to tie each one very tight using floristry wire. Always lay the next mini bunch over the stems you have just placed down to ensure there are no gaps.

4. After you have covered 2 thirds of the base, cover the stems of the last mini bunch you have attached with ribbon and tie in a bow. Voila!
