Q&A with Lyndsey: Introducing our First Exclusive Collection | Rose & Grey

This week we have launched our very first Rose & Grey exclusive range of furniture! The Bardot collection was designed in collaboration with one of our trusted suppliers, offering a choice of six pieces of storage furniture for your home. We caught up with our co-owner, Lyndsey, to find out more details about the collection.

What is the concept of the collection?

We wanted to offer a fresh take on storage that is both on-trend and classic. The Bardot collection combines hard-wearing mango wood with stylish webbed rattan panels to add texture. The addition of elegant brass finishings helps to create a collection of furniture that will easily fit into a contemporary home.

How many pieces are in the collection?

The capsule collection includes six pieces, focusing on storage with cabinets, sideboards and chests of drawers. The showpiece of the collection is the Tall Arch Cupboard which looks great on its own or can be styled with other pieces from the collection.

Where was the furniture made?

We’ve worked closely with one of our long-time suppliers for this collection, using their expertise to source a reputable factory. The factory is based in Indonesia, an area of the world renowned for its high quality rattan furniture and mango wood. We really wanted to use mango wood for this collection as it is one of the hardest wearing and most sustainable hardwoods.

Why is mango wood sustainable?

Mango is one of the most sustainable choices for making furniture, as the wood is a byproduct of the mango fruit industry. The mango trees grow quickly, reaching 80-100 feet in just 15 years. Once the trees grow too tall to harvest the fruit or stop bearing fruit, they are cut down and used for timber and new trees are planted. Mango is a hardwood with dense grains, making it strong enough for large furniture that will hold heavy items.

How would you style the furniture in your own home?

The six pieces from the collection can be styled on their own, or you could introduce a couple of pieces into your home. They all have flat tops, allowing you to style your favourite vases or decorative objects on top, while storing clutter neatly away inside. I’ll be using the tallboy in my bedroom to fold away clothes, the large sideboard will be replacing my old TV cabinet in the living room, and the alcove cupboard is moving into my dining room to store my favourite crockery and glassware.

The Bardot Collection looks so lovely and I was excited to see the range. I like to buy unusual furniture which enhances my current eclectic pieces. I am, however, looking for a television cabinet which is not so wide and was disappointed that the small cabinet would not suit my requirements. If the range in future were to include a cabinet which had a maximum width of 80cm & height of 50cm, plus be sturdy enough to house a 32″ screen tv, my Sky box, plus books. I would be a definite buyer. Congratulations on offering such a lovely range of on-trend furniture.

Thanks for commenting Virginia. We don’t currently have any plans to make a smaller cabinet, but I’ve passed your feedback onto the designer.
      Best, Emma
