Five Reasons Why You Should Go Faux

Five Reasons Why You Should Go Faux

We've been selling faux plants for two years now and have definitely noticed a surge in popularity. Once upon a time, fake plants looked cheap and unrealistic and tracking down high quality versions was almost impossible. The times have changed, however, and there is now a diverse and impressive market for faux plants and flowers with big names like Abigail Ahern helping to change the perception that fakes are always easily identifiable. We frequently have to explain to our showroom visitors that all the plants in our showroom are actually fakes! Still need convincing? Here are five reasons why you should go faux.

You can place fake plants anywhere

If you're introducing real plants into your home, you need to consider where they will get the best light and whether the room is the right temperature for them. Some plants simply won't thrive in your home because the environment doesn't suit them, or they won't work in the places that you would like to put them. Bathrooms with small windows are notoriously hard to position plants in, as are dimly lit corners and spaces on top of shelves or cupboards. The beauty of faux plants is that you can place them absolutely anywhere. Simply choose the spot where you'd like to display the fake plant and leave it there.

You don't have to worry about watering

Fake plants have absolutely zero maintenance, apart from requiring an occasional dusting. If you are notorious for killing plants, they're the perfect choice for you as you don't have to worry about watering, re-potting or standing there and talking to them, attempting to encourage them to grow.

You can relax about having plants around pets and children

Many common household plants are actually toxic to humans or animals, making them a risky investment if you have small children or curious pets. Rather than placing all of your plants on high shelves out of harms way, fake plants are an excellent alternative. You don't have to worry about your cat eating fallen leaves, your child pricking themselves on sharp spikes or a curious puppy knocking them over.

You will save money in the long term

Yes, faux plants can be pricey, but if you consider how much money you would spend on constantly replacing plants that die, you'll realise that it is a great investment. A fake plant will last for many years, even without the constant care that real plants require.

You can style them in ways that wouldn't work with real plants

We love twining faux stems around our wire rings to make wreaths that will last forever, or hanging fake ivy from the ceiling to add interest to a room. There are so many creative ways that you can style fake plants in your home that just wouldn't work with the real thing. You don't have to worry about drainage in pots or the practicalities of what you can and can't do when you're using fakes.
