The Interior Trends you Need to Know 2017

February 14, 2017
Trends 2017

A new year means new trends; although with interiors you know they’re going to stick around for longer than fast fashion! All of the trends that we’ve picked up on for 2017 are continuations of last year’s key looks. We’re talking plants, velvet, natural materials, Scandinavian style and a retro aesthetic. Read on to discover more about the interior trends you need to know this year and tips for how to style them in your own homes.

Greenery

Even if Pantone’s colour of the year isn’t for you, embrace this year’s favourite hue with plenty of plants, statement green furniture or perhaps a lick of dark green paint on a feature wall. If you’re ready to embrace Greenery in your home, opt for a dramatic emerald green sofa and accessorise with an abundance of plants and botanical prints. For those who are slightly sceptical, now is the time to introduce a couple of house plants to your favourite rooms – the trend for botanicals is going nowhere. If you don’t have particularly green fingers, a good fake plant will do the job just as nicely.

Mid Century Modern

Inject a retro aesthetic into your home with wooden framed furniture, sleek silhouettes and iconic designs. Our 366 and Fox chairs allow you to own a piece of design history, whilst our accessories collection helps to complete the look. If you’re wondering how to style the retro look without going full on Modernist, it’s easy to take just one or two statement pieces of furniture and make them work with more contemporary accessories. Our new collection of Mid-Century seating looks stunning with lampskin throws or quirky cushions draped over the chairs.

Natural Materials

Cork, seagrass, wood, wool and stone are all seeing a rise in popularity, linked to the trend for artisanal objects. The perfect way to add warmth, texture and interest to your home, invest in quality accessories crafted from organic materials. This trend is easy to reference through accessories in your home – seagrass baskets in the bathroom, stone kitchen worktops, wool throws on the sofa, lots of natural wooden furniture, and cork everywhere! We’re especially besotted with cork this season, offering a variety of lamps, accessories and noticeboards crafted from 2017’s must-have material.

Nordic Luxe

The perfect trend for those who love Scandi style but covet more glamorous materials. Streamline silhouettes, luxe metallics and carefully curated accessories all help to give the Nordic look a grown-up twist. To embrace this trend in your own home, opt for a streamlined sofa (or one of our new wooden-framed two-seaters) and accessorise with marble, brass and polished stone accessories. Think elegant when selecting your side tables and opt for clean lines and glamorous materials for lighting and accessories. Keep your colour palette to a minimum, embracing soft neutrals and punctuating with bursts of one colour.

Velvet Dreams

Sumptuous velvet sofas, armchairs and accessories aren’t going out of style any time soon. Choose from squishy sofas, wooden-framed armchairs and rocking chairs in vibrant or neutral hues, all crafted from the softest velvets. We love the idea of introducing a vibrantly hued velvet sofa to your living room (they look especially lovely against dark walls) and accessorising with a couple of constrasting cushions.
