Five Interiors Books that we’re Reading

Looking for inspiration for decorating your home? Look no further! We’ve pulled together a list of five inspiring interiors books that we’ve been reading lately, that we’re sure that you’ll love. Whether you’re updating your home, sprucing up your garden or simply want to look at photos of beautiful homes, these are the tomes that you need on your bookshelf. What’s more, they all look great, making them the perfect addition to your coffee table!

Mad about the House by Kate Watson-Smyth

Kate’s second book, Mad About the House is the most well-thumbed book in our office at the moment. The book is divided into chapters offering advice for making changes to every room in your home, suggesting ideas for any budget. We particularly love the back section of the book, where Kate goes into detail of her top ten interior hacks. The book is filled with beautiful illustrations of Kate’s home and is bound in a beautiful shade of soft pink. Far from your typical coffee table book, Kate has created a book that you actually want to read cover to cover, absorbing all of the expert advice that she offers inside.

Eat Drink Nap by Soho House

Soho House’s first book, Eat Drink Nap is a firm favourite on our coffee table, thanks to the beautiful content that fills every page. The book is filled with inspiration for how to inject a little bit of the Soho House aesthetic into your own home – whether that’s finding the perfect sofa or cooking up one of their signature dishes in your own kitchen. The beautiful photographs are the highlight of the book, showing a sneak peek inside one of the country’s most iconic hotel chains, but there’s also plenty of good advice for making small but noticeable changes to your own home.

How to Decorate by Farrow & Ball

It’s no secret that we love Farrow & Ball – our showroom is painted in their beautiful colours – so we had to include their book on this list! How to Decorate offers an easy to read guide to using paint and wallpaper in your home, offering tips for any size and style of room. Learn more about how to create a feature wall, which colours are best for north-facing rooms and how to make a room feel larger than it actually is. The book also touches on updating the exterior of your house and shows how neutrals can have just as big an impact as bright hues.

Scandinavia Dreaming from Gestalten

We love Scandinavian interior style, so the cover of this book obviously caught our eye. Inside Scandinavia Dreaming, readers will find interiors, architecture and design products that offer inspiration for creating a Nordic look in your own home. The book is full of beautiful photography, showcasing Scandinavian homes that will fill you with inspiration for adding well-designed items into your own house.

Selina Lake’s latest book steps outside the home to offer inspiration for how to style your outdoor spaces. Garden Style is a very visual book that also manages to cram in plenty of inspiration and tips for transforming your garden into a space just as stylish as the inside of your home. The book begins by discussing the places where Selina finds inspiration, before delving into decorative suggestions for your garden, ideas for bringing the outside in and inspiration for how to transform your outdoor spaces into the perfect places to entertain.
