Win with Canopy & Stars!

November 6, 2015
Canopy and Stars competition

We’re delighted to announce that we are collaborating with Canopy & Stars this month to offer an incredible prize of a two night stay for two people at Cwt Gwyrdd Shepherd’s Hut in Pembrokeshire, Wales!

Sawday’s Canopy & Stars has been one of our favourite places to discover secluded retreats in the UK and across Europe since the site launched in 2010. From treehouses to gypsy caravans, wooden cabins to yurts, the site curates a collection of over 500 unique places to stay. Several of the destinations have even been featured on one of our favourite TV shows, George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces!

Canopy and Stars competition

Perfectly located in the foothills of the Preseli Mountains, nestled among the trees close to the river, Cwt Gwyrdd is composed of a small green shepherd’s hut and a matching cabin, that were lovingly handmade by the owners, Tim and Lucie. The hut is where you will sleep, cosy and comfy in a king size bed with a log burning stove heating the room. Stroll across the wooden decking to discover a hot shower and composting bathroom facilities in the cabin.

The outdoor area can be enjoyed all year long. Sit around the campfire, wrapped up warm in the traditional Welsh blankets supplied, watching the stars come out. During the day, visit the horses in the nearby paddock, or head to the river for a nature-spotting walk. The coast of the Pembrokeshire National Park is only a few miles away, offering spectacular views, boat trips, bird watching and plenty of hiking opportunities. Tim is a local lobster fisherman, and you can even buy his fresh catch of the day to cook for your evening meal!

Entering the competition couldn’t be easier! Simply head to the Canopy & Stars competition page and fill out a simple data form – and ensure that you share our social media posts with whoever you would love to accompany you, should you win!

A Dogs Tale

October 19, 2015
Harvey Manchester & Cheshire Dog's home

We recently teamed up with PetsPyjamas to offer their followers the chance to win one of our vintage leather armchairs (head over to PetsPyjamas to enter!). This meant that we had to track down a friendly pooch who would be happy to pose alongside the prize! Rather than paying for a professional dog model we really wanted to use it as an opportunity to donate to the Manchester & Cheshire Dogs’ Home and borrow one of their gorgeous dogs. We all fell in love with Harvey and had a fun filled day with him at a recent photo shoot! Harvey Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home Harvey seemed to take our ‘No Dogs on this Sofa’ cushion a bit too literally – every time we sat him on the armchair he seemed to heed its instructions and leap straight off! We had lots of fun trying to persuade him to stay still with the promise of various treats, and our photographer, Lee managed to get some adorable shots! Harvey Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home We asked Joanne from Manchester & Cheshire Dogs’ Home to give us a little background information about Harvey, and tell us his backstory. “Harvey was found tied to the Dogs’ Home gates in July last year, aged about 5 to 6 months. He was taken into kennels where he stayed for the 7 days in case the owners wanted to claim him, then on the 8th day he became the property of the Dogs’ Home. I had already fallen in love with him at this point and begged to take him home! At 4.30 that evening I put him in my car and took him to his new forever home. Harvey Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home It was a hairy first few months as we didn’t know anything about his past and he was even scared of his own shadow! He wasn’t house trained and wouldn’t even go up the stairs at first. With a lot of patience and love we soon overcame these obstacles and each day he is growing with confidence. Luckily I can take him to work with me and he also comes to events that we do over the year!”   It’s heart-breaking that someone could abandon their puppy, but we love that Harvey’s story has a happy ending!

Rose & Grey Bloggers’ Cocktail Glasses Styling Challenge

July 15, 2015

A few weeks ago we invited a selection of bloggers to take part in a styling challenge and you may remember that the task was to style a set of three of our wild flower jam jars.  It was so hard to pick a winner from the beautiful entries we received, but in the end we chose the one from Capture By Lucy.  For this second styling challenge, it seemed like the perfect time of year to invite our Style Ambassadors to have fun styling a cocktail set of their choice from Rose & Grey.

They were able to choose from retro Daiquiri, Margarita or Champagne cocktail glasses and these gift boxed pairs of glasses come complete with cute accessories such as stirrers, straws and coasters.  Again, we left it to our Style Ambassadors to do what they wish with their props and we received a lovely variety of entries.  Once more we have been so impressed with the creative talent; not all these bloggers are professional stylists, but we think they probably should be!

As well as coming up with beautiful imagery, our Style Ambassadors have been busy creating some delicious cocktails along the way and sharing the recipes on their blogs, too, so do check them out.  The Pomegranate Champagne that Karen Barlow mixed up looks absolutely delicious, while Janice Issitt picked elderberry flowers to make an Elderflower cocktail in her Margarita glasses.

The Twinkle Diaries entry was a ‘Jubarb’ cocktail which is an enticing combination of homemade rhubarb cordial and gin.  Over at Lapin Blu, you can find a beautiful elderflower, vanilla and pear champagne cocktail.  The Fairytale Pretty Picture made a refreshing strawberry and mint daiquiri, while Raspberry Limoncello Fizz was Apartment No 4’s cocktail of choice – another refreshing one that we bet tastes great!

Borrowed Light tried two different drinks in their Champagne glasses – an Elderflower & Champagne Cocktail with cucumber & mint for garnish and then a Raspberry Champagne Cocktail.  Karen from ‘Well I Guess this is Growing Up’ mixed a classic Margarita using Tequila and presented her glasses with a half-salted rim.  Ruth at Gathered Cheer came up with a very original idea which was to use her glasses to hold a grown up raspberry and elderflower jelly desert, topped with mint and clotted cream.

The Villa on Mount Pleasant’s Tamsyn styled her pink champagne in the vintage champagne glasses with lots of pretty blooms for a very summery look.  Meanwhile, Little Birdie took her glasses out on an evening picnic and sipped a fruity Pineapple Mint Prosecco  – sounds delicious and the Pineapple Mint Syrup recipe is on her blog.  There were a couple of non-alcoholic entries too, with Oh Style enjoying a rose-infused lemonade and The Ordinary Lovely throwing an impromptu party for her son, serving cloudy lemonade – we loved his tropical sunglasses!

And not everyone used the cocktail glasses for drinks… watch this space for a blog post about a particularly unusual entry that really thinks outside the box, from Ginger Bisquite!

And The Winner Is…

Well done to everyone who took part and thanks for the inspiration.  After a hard task deciding on our winner for this challenge, we are pleased to announce that it is the entry from Lapin Blu that takes the prize.  Well done to Sarah-Louise who wins a £150 Rose & Grey voucher!  We loved the way she documented the process of making her elderflower syrup and all her gorgeous photos.

Look out for another exciting challenge next season and in the meantime you can check out all the entries below over on our Styling For Summer Pinterest board.

The Rose & Grey Jam Jar Vases Styling Challenge

April 30, 2015

We asked a group of talented bloggers to give us their personal take on styling our Wild Flower Jam Jar Vases.  We sent out three of these popular vintage-style jars to each participant and let them style them in whatever way they chose.  We were so impressed by the high standard of each and every contributor.  The creativity and variety of looks achieved has been fantastic and it was very difficult to choose a winner.

In the end, we chose the entry by Lucy Heath from Capture by Lucy as our overall winner.  What we loved was the way Lucy created three entirely different looks with each of her 3 jam jar vases.  She involved her little boys in the challenge, so one jar featured things they had collected from the garden, including small snail shells and wild flowers.  The petal confetti inside another flower filled jar was a lovely idea and the third blossom-filled jar, decorated with strips of floral wallpaper and hung from a tree branch, created a really pretty effect.

Well done to Lucy who wins a £150 Rose & Grey voucher and we want to say a big thanks to all our entrants whose creativity has really inspired us.  Please take a look at all the wonderful entries, you can find them on our Pinterest board here and in the gallery below:

Win £150 in The Rose & Grey Golden Egg Hunt

April 2, 2015

If you enjoy a good Easter Egg hunt, our latest competition is perfect for you, especially as the winner will receive a fantastic £150 voucher to spend at Rose & Grey.

So if you are up for the challenge, you task is simply to discover the 5 golden eggs we have hidden somewhere within our product images in the new arrivals department of our website.

To find them, you will need to click into the actual product pages within our new arrivals department and look at the images closely to find them.  Then email us the product names of the five images in which the eggs feature. We will pick 1 winner at random after the closing date.

Email us at, write on our facebook page or tweet us using #goldeneggs @roseandgrey.

The competition ends Wednesday 8th April at 12 noon.

And if you need some clues, read on:

One egg is the star of the show; another egg just likes to hang.  A third egg is a big fan of Harris Tweed; another isn’t shy about being on display and the last egg appears to have been laid by a pheasant, rather than a golden goose! (sitting by a sofa!)

Good luck everyone and Happy Easter from the team at Rose & Grey x
